CITIZEN STOCK BIKE RACING

Every Monday Night from June 16, 2008 through August 11, 2008

Start Time is 6:00 pm. $2 per night.

For anyone from 2 to 102

A wholesome activity for young children, young adults, and their families.

The Citizen races are races open to everyone who wants to try bicycle racing. They don't require special bikes or equipment. their main purpose is to have fun! They give you a chance to race against others in your age group, and if you find you really like racing, they serve as a stepping stone to the ABR class of racing.

Who can race?

Anyone aged 2 or older

Is it safe?

Track racing is safer than riding in traffic. Accidents have been few and minor.

What equipment do I need?

A bike and a helmet. Toddlers race on "Big Wheels", pre-schoolers on bikes with training wheels, children on sidewalk bikes and BMX bikes. Those 7 years and older can race geared bikes (5 speed, 10 speed, etc.). The geared bike events are structured more like ABR races, and we welcome all age groups to participate in them.

How do I get started?

Bring your bike, helmet, and a release form (signed by a parent if you're under 18) to the track by 6:00 pm any Monday night. Release forms are available at the track on Monday nights. There is a one-time $5 registration fee. Racing is $2 per night for insurance.

Trophies!

We keep track of points scored throughout the season by each rider. At seasons end, we will have an awards banquet where trophies will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group, and participation awards presented to the remaining riders.

So, if you're looking for something to do, something that's fun, challenging, wholesome and good for you . . . join us every Monday evening at the Velodrome.
